Visa Types & Steps
F-1 Student Visa — Steps
- Receive I-20 from your U.S. institution after acceptance.
- Pay the SEVIS I-901 fee and prepare DS-160 online application.
- Schedule and attend a consular interview; bring documents (I-20, passport, financials).
- Attend visa interview and provide biometric data as requested.
- If approved, enter the U.S. up to 30 days before course start date.
Optional Practical Training (OPT) & Work Options
OPT provides post-study work opportunities; STEM graduates may be eligible for a 24-month extension.
